Nikita Pershukov, a 4th-year bachelor’s student studying Information Science and Computation Technology at the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE), has placed among the Russian national team’s expanded membership for the WorldSkills Russia competition in the ‘Network and System Administration’ category. In an interview with the HSE New Service, Nikita talked about the team selection process and what lies ahead for him and his fellow teammates.

In 2020 the world changed, and so did HSE. Classes were held over Zoom, exams were taken online with proctoring, Meladze performed online at the graduation ceremony, and HSE Day became Brand New. Hundreds of scholars from all over the world teach and conduct research at HSE University. At the International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) alone there are more than 30 researchers who hold PhDs from universities outside Russia. One of them is Emiliano Catonini, who completed his second research project this year and is now preparing it for publication. He spoke with the HSE News Service about getting students to put their phones away during lecture, surviving academia, trading energy for economics, and falling in love with Moscow winters.

HSE University Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov has welcomed first year students to HSE University. He told the newly enrolled students about the importance of wearing masks on campus, the autumn flu vaccination, as well as important changes in the educational process. The rector also congratulated them on starting their student life at HSE University.

Pavel Samoilenko, a student at MIEM HSE, has been awarded a grant from the Innovation Promotion Foundation in support of his project which aims to develop mobile applications for navigating and visualizing 3D content inside buildings. The grant award totals 500,000 rubles.
