HSE University took 31st place in the QS Top 50 Under 50 Ranking, climbing seven places, even in the face of the growing competition in the higher tier of this ranking.

HSE became the leader of this ranking for the first time, outperforming Moscow State University, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and other Russian universities. Universities were assessed on the basis of three indicators, Quality of Education, Quality of Graduates and the ‘Forbes Factor’.

Andrey Golovnev, a Corresponding Member of the RAS, Director of the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) and Professor at HSE University’s School of Arts and Humanities has received the state prize for his contributions to the study of cultural heritage of the Arctic peoples.

Educational Studies Moscow journal, which is published by HSE University, is now included in the second quartile (Q2) of the Scopus international scientometric database. This reflects the high level of citation and demand for the journal within the academic community, thus confirming its status as the best Russian publication in the field of education.

Professor Sergei Semenov, head of ‘Global Changes in the Natural Environment and Climate’ sector, was awarded the chief award of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the field of environmental change.

For three years already, HSE University has appeared in the Top-5 of Russia’s best universities according to the RAEX Ranking. In terms of demand for graduates among employers, HSE University has risen to the second place, while also improving its indicator for ‘environment for high-quality learning’.

SuperJob, a job search service, has published a ranking of technical universities based on earnings of graduates in the 2014-2019 cohort. HSE University has improved its position this year, rising from seventh to fifth place in the ranking.

HSE University took 298^th place in the 2021 QS World University Rankings, improving its ranking by 24 positions compared to last year and entering the first quartile of the world’s leading universities. HSE University now ranks among the world’s top 300 universities in two international rankings: the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
