HSE Scholars Take Part in Global Political Science Congress
In July, instructors and students from the HSE’s Faculty of Social Sciences took part in the 23rd World Congress of Political Science, which was held in Montreal by the International Political Science Association. Two collective projects by the HSE were presented on special panels.
Irina Shafranskaya: ‘Marketing is Becoming More about Informatics and Less about Creativity’
One of the largest international academic conferences on marketing, Global Marketing, recently took place in Singapore. Irina Shafranskaya, Dean of the Faculty of Management at the HSE campus in Perm, and Dmitry Leontiev, a fourth-year student, presented a joint study that investigates the specifics of online and offline consumption of films. Irina Shafranskaya shared her impressions of the trip.

HSE Signs Cooperation Agreement with the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts Studies
On June 27, the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg and the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts Studies signed a cooperation agreement. The groundwork for the agreement had been laid over a period of several months, since December 2013, when a delegation from the Institute first visited the HSE St. Petersburg campus.

He spoke with the HSE news service about his interests in weather, Russia’s railways, the study of history in today’s society, as well as his impressions of collaborating with Russian colleagues.

The Second International Conference on Information Technology and Quantitative Management (ITQM 2014) took place on June 3-5, drawing 120 professionals from 29 countries to consider issues of model performance and decision-making algorithms when processing large amounts of data.
