The Master's in 'Global and Regional History' Trains Specialists in History and Anthropology
The Master's programme 'Global and Regional History' has two educational tracks: one historical and one anthropological. The main goal of the programme is to prepare graduates to continue their academic careers. However, students will also be able to work in more applied fields: in museums, publishing companies, exhibitions, and marketing. HSE Students Explore Environmental Problems at Summer School in South Urals
The summer school 'Space in/for Environmental Humanities: Reconsidering the Global through Studying Peripheries' explored the impact of human activity on natural environments and their transformation. It was co-organised by the School of Environmental and Social Studies (Anthroposchool) at the University of Tyumen (TSU) and the HSE Poletayev Institute for Theoretical and Historical Studies in the Humanities (IGITI), with support from the Mirror Labs programme of HSE University.
Exploring the History of Places and Environment in Russia
The collective volume Place and Nature: Essays in Russian Environmental History, co-edited by David Moon, Nicholas B. Breyfogle, and HSE researcher Alexandra Bekasova, was recently presented at a seminar of the Laboratory for the Environmental and Technological History of the Centre for Historical Research at HSE – St. Petersburg. The book is one of the fruits of a networking project carried out in 2013-2016 with active participation of HSE researchers.
Five years of the Summer School by History Department “Topography of imperial power: the political and cultural space of St. Petersburg”
The summer school of the HSE’s Department of History, St. Petersburg, with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD, was held for the fifth time this year and attracted an international group of students from Germany and the USA to participate.
Exploring Political and Cultural Space of St Petersburg through the Summer School 'Topography of Imperial Power'
On a grey autumn day, it is always nice to warm up by reliving memories of summer adventures. This year, the balmy weather did not leave our city till mid-October, and a summer mood also lingered at HSE University – St Petersburg with the IV International Summer School 'The Topography of Imperial Power: Political and Cultural Space of Saint Petersburg' which ran from September 11 till October 2, 2018.
European Society for Environmental History Conference
From June 30 – July 3, 2015, Julia Lajus, Alexandra Bekasova, Marina Loskutova, Margarita Dadykina, and Elena Kochetkova, researchers from the Department of History and Center of Historical Studies, took part in the 8th Conference of the European Society for Environmental History. The event took place at University of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in France.
