‘Neural Networks Are Something that Move the World Forward’
On September 4, the HSE University building on Pokrovsky Bulvar hosted ARTificial Fest, an event devoted to neural network art. The festival was organised by the HSE University Faculty of Creative Industries, the HSE Career centre, and the Chisty List (‘Blank Page’) student organisation. The event was open not only to students and staff of HSE University, but also to anyone interested in the blending of machine algorithms and art.
Human Capital Multidisciplinary Research Centre Opens Exhibition at Technoprom 2023 Forum
On August 22, 2023, the Human Capital Multidisciplinary Research Centre (HCMRC) opened an exhibition as part of the Technoprom 2023 forum in Novosibirsk. On the opening day, more than 300 people visited the stand, of which more than 50 took part in an interactive ‘anthropologist simulator’ and a visual attention test. HSE University Hosts ‘Pint-Sized’ Film Festival
On August 21, HSE University’s Cultural Centre hosted the opening of the first ‘Pint-Sized’ student film festival. Over the next week, guests will be able to attend lectures from teachers of the HSE Film Institute and watch works by the festival participants. On August 27, at the closing ceremony, the winners of the Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Directing, and Best Cinematography categories will be announced.
At Sarov Technopark, Researchers from HSE Faculty of Computer Science Discussed AI for Data Analysis in Physics

From August 7 to 9, the annual All-Russian Forum of Medical Volunteers took place at HSE University’s Cultural Centre. The event was held for the seventh year in a row. This year, 300 medical volunteers from all over Russia took part.

The first international Forum of African Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities has come to an end. The forum was held at HSE University in St Petersburg as part of the second Russia–Africa Summit.
Role of Street Art in Urban Environment Discussed at HSE CREATIVE HUB
On July 22, the HSE CREATIVE HUB space hosted the ‘AGREED’ street art festival. This is the first collaboration between HSE Art and Design School students and the CHAIN community. The event participants learned how street art changes the urban environment and also created their own artifacts in the form of special stickers and stencils.
Gaming and Communication: HSE University at VK Fest in Gorky Park
This weekend VK Fest took place in Gorky Park — an open-air spectacular featuring musicians, bloggers, and speakers, as well as entertainment and educational projects for a young audience. The 2023 Festival took place in five cities: Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg, Sochi and Moscow. This is the second time VK Fest has been held in Moscow, and both times HSE University has taken part in the event.
‘We Live in a World Where Technology and Interaction with It Are an Integral Part of Everyday Life’
In early July, HSE ART GALLERY hosted the grand opening of the ‘Telling Stories. Big Data’ exhibition. The first part of this project has been exhibited at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art since the end of June. The exhibition will be open at both venues until August 13th.
‘Everything Suggests That Our Experiment Was a Success, and We Will Continue’: First Graduation of HSE University’s Bachelor’s Programme in Chemistry
On July 5th, at HSE University’s Centre of Cultures, the first graduates of the Bachelor’s programme in Chemistry were awarded their diplomas. The programme was created in 2019 with the support of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Studying at the new faculty, the young researchers have achieved impressive scientific results, with 21 graduates publishing 46 co-authored articles in international scientific journals.
